Greetings Daizies,
It is officially my favorite month of the year: NOVEMBER! This month marks my 24th birthday and another 365 days around the sun. I did a photoshoot last week for my theme this month called #22DaysofDai where I share something about myself or my life each day on Instagram and my DaibyDai Facebook page. I picked the perfect day for the photoshoot. It was a beautiful mid 60 degree weather day, sun shining, and leaves on the ground. A perfect fall day that made me look around and truly be grateful for the city I’m in. So here are some of my favorite things to do in Seattle!
Pike Place Market
An iconic Seattle landmark, I love visiting Pike Place Market to feel like a tourist in my own Seattle. The hustle and bustle of locals and tourists alike make me feel like I’m on a vacation discovering a new town. A few months ago I actually bought my weekly fruits and vegetables from the farmers market and felt very metropolitan with my reusable tote in hand. My favorite samples are the fresh cherries and the apple cider stands!
Take a photo in front of the Public Market Center sign
Check out the fish stand spectacle and watch some giant fish get tossed around.
Smell the scents of candles and oils from eclectic shops!
Buy a bouquet of flowers at one of the many flower stands
See the icky sticky pieces of gum at the Gum Wall
Walk the Downtown Streets
I’ve started to make my way around the museums, which was one of my goals this year. I finally visited the Seattle Art Museum a few times and make frequent visits to the downtown library. But overall, downtown Seattle is great for shopping, concerts, and events.
Take in the Greenery
I don’t realize how abundant Washington is with trees and plants until I travel to other states and America where you can’t find a tree in sight. There’s nothing like driving and seeing tons of beautiful Evergreen trees and fresh air. Sometimes I just like to sit outside and read a book. Or take some slow deep breaths to practice mindfulness.
Seattle Center
The Seattle Center is a top gathering place for family-oriented events in Seattle. It’s also where you’ll find Seattle’s most iconic attraction: the Space Needle! Over the summer I took my family to the Seattle Center after doing a quick search of family events that were happening that weekend. There was actually an Arab fest going on and I thought it would be cool to learn about a new culture and the community in Seattle. There was a comedian, dance performances, and musical performances. My niece and nephews also had fun just running around near the sprinklers to cool off. My next thing on my list is to actually go up into the Space Needle for the first time. I’m really going to do it…SOON!
Seattle Wheel
I took a spin on the Seattle Wheel on my 20th birthday! Wow I can’t believe that was nearly 4 years ago! It’s cheaper to get the tickets online of course and check out for the type of weather for the day you want to ride the wheel. I had a blast when I went and the wheel is very close to Pike Place market so you can visit it all within a few minutes of walking.
FOOD
My favorite food is sandwiches, period. So I am always on the hunt for new sandwich shops to try. Literally it’s my go-to meal and I always navigate towards some form of sandwich type of meal. Since this is my forte, I thought I’d recommend some of my favorites:
- HoneyHole – For warm sandwiches with some fries that actually are worthy to be put next to a sandwich
- Homegrown – I feel great buying a sandwich from a fully sustainable food-chain or that’s what I tell myself to compensate the amount I spend there lol
- Tat’s Delicatissan – Ah it’s been a minute since I’ve been here but they have the best Philly Cheesesteaks I can find in the city
- Daizha’s Deluxe…lol I make some pretty amazing subs myself
That wraps up my summary of my favorite things to do in the city. There are tons of other things to do in the city, but these are the locations and activities draw me in the most 🙂
