Greetings Daizies,
It’s the perfect time of the year to experiment with some new styles and I realize it’s long overdue for me to share these amazing clip-ins I found on Amazon. Whenever I see posts of people with clip-ins I’m always like “aww these are so cute…but do they blend with 4c hair though?” Well these clip-ins did not steer me wrong.
I purchased these over a year ago in the summer of 2021 to wear for my pageant. I was looking for a natural hair look I could maintain while being in humid weather, as it was an international pageant, and would be breathable. I made the right choice going with clip-ins and was able to style my hair for the whole pageant week and the pageant day itself.
Hair Details
- $94 each from Amazon
- 2 packs for a full head of hair
I am glad I ordered two packs since my hair is very thick. One bundle works for a low bun type of style or ponytail. For a full head of hair, two packs will do the trick.
Prepping for the BEST blend
Figuring out how to make my clip-ins look like my natural hair took two tries for me. The texture of the hair right out the bag was not enough to make it blend seamlessly, even after washing and conditioning. You’re going to need to really detangle and put the hair in a braid out type of style for it to work the best if you have a kinkier hair texture. Here’s what worked best for me:
- Step 1) Shampoo and condition hair as if it were your own
- Step 2) Detangle with a wet brush while soaked in conditioner
- Step 3) Braid clip ins in medium braids
- Step 4) Braid your leave-out WITH clip ins
- Step 5) Unbraid clip ins and attach wefts to braided base
- Step 6) Fluff out hair and rock your style
Braiding Pattern
For a full head of hair with minimal leave out, I did regular straight back braids and left a small amount around the edges and the part.
For a half-up half-down style, the pattern was achieved by only braiding the back half of my hair.
For slick low-buns, braids aren’t necessary since you’ll just be wrapping the clip-ins around your bun.
Styling and Maintenance
It’s been over a year and a half and my original purchase is still intact. One wash day with the clip-ins can last several weeks. Doing a thorough wash, condition and twist after having them stored away for a while would ensure that they are shiny and vibrant when you’re wearing them.
How do y’all feel about clipins?
As always,
Take it step by step and day by day
