It’s been one month since #LaunchDaiPartII and the release of two new products, the Butterbliss Deep Conditioner and the Hair & Scalp Oil. Seeing three whole products available on my site is so amazing and exciting because it has been a long road to creating each by hand. I knew when I launched last year in 2020 that I would work towards introducing new products and it definitely took a lot of research, patience and determination to make it all possible.
How it All Came to Be
The Hydrating Buttercream was an amazing first product and has been a staple in many Daizies’ hair routines across the country. With the success of that product, I wanted to add products to the line products that worked in unison with what the Hydrating Buttercream worked to achieve – moisture retention, hair growth, and manageability. Thinking about a couple of must-have types of products I always run out of I decided on a deep conditioner (we all know how 4c hair LOVES a deep conditioning treatment) and hair oil (this works well for protective styles, buns, and all styles in between).
What’s So Special About the New Products?
I thought really long and hard about what I wanted products to achieve. For the deep conditioner, the goal was to create an effective product that brought moisture to the hair from the inside out. I love having a wash day where my hair feels moveable and soft throughout the week. I focused on what type of ingredients would best bring out that softness, definition, and always was easy to detangle with during wash day. My favorite aspects of the Butterbliss Deep conditioner are the AMAZING smell, the consistency, and how it easily soaks into my hair strands making detangling a breeze. The main ingredients are also so amazing with 3 emollient rich and creamy kinds of butter – Shea Butter, Mango Butte, and Muru Muru Butter. With the focus on moisture and intensive hydration, it was important that included butters to nourish and enrich the hair strands.
With the Hair and Scalp Oil Blend it’s the perfect product to soothe an itchy or dry scalp and seal the ends of your hair to protect against breakage. It’s also the right balance of moisturizing without being too heavy for your scalp. Apricot oil is one of the oils included that you don’t see too often in hair products that helps increase your strand’s hydration level. The Castor OIl, Vitamin E oil, and Extra Virgin Olive Oil are also some amazing ingredients that come together to make this an oil you definitely need in your routine.
Behind the Scenes of Launch Dai
Once the actual product development is complete and I’ve gotten the formula finalized, I had so much fun getting into the design and marketing for the product release. I’m creative at heart, so seeing my sketches of how I wanted the product labels to look, the draft copy, and the photoshoot design come to life literally sparked so much joy. I was feeling like a whole photographer with my setup and learned so much about photoshopping tips and techniques. The WONDERS of using a clone tool in Lightroom transformed my product photos.
LaunchDai and Beyond!
Getting my first orders of the new products has been a joy! I also released my first bundle kit and it’s so cool to see people purchase all 3 products and try them out at once. I’m thankful for those who have told others about the products and shared them with friends. It’s a really unique and special experience to be a part of something from start to finish. It has taught me that I can really do anything and find what I need to make something happen. At the start of the formulation process, I was like “now how and the world do I create a deep conditioner” and I took it step by step to find out what was needed and to learn all of the steps. Being a business owner is really living and breathing the motto “Take it Step by Step and DaibyDai.
